"Well, it’s our first issue of the New Year; lots to discuss and hash out so let’s get right down to business.

Huge news to start the New Year, Oversee acquires Moniker!

WOW, that’s all I can really say about this news. Oversee, now integrating Moniker’s live auctions, Domain Valuation services as well as probably the most respected registrar in the domain community to its batman fan club utility belt. This is a great thing moving forward, creating better opportunities for all of us, with this acquisition. Congratulations to both Oversee and Moniker.

Transparency, much talked about and much needed, will be a huge issue this year; parking companies are getting fat from our traffic, and creating a sliding scale of revenue figures based on non converting traffic. I’ve said this in the past and I’m still sticking with it; we send our traffic, whether the advertiser converts this traffic or not, we need to be paid, excluding of course fraudulent traffic, this is a huge push for direct navigation and pay per view type services.

I believe we will also see a bigger swing this year towards developing names, building a business out of these names, and bringing a little extra value to the investment in the name.

Support Michael Collins and the Internet Commerce Association. It’s our voice of the industry to ICANN and Washington, helping us kick the Cyber-squatter tag often associated with domain investors and speculators.

Ok, now a little note about the magazine in general. I want to thank all the readers, subscribers, and advertisers in helping us run through the first year, and continuing the success in the second year.

We will continue to put out the best possible content regarding all the issues in the industry as well as some non-industry related content.

Thanks
Mike St. John"
